Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events impacted the area, producing strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Residents witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities verified that different parts across the state had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to manage the widespread outages.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the state, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity expected across various areas of both states.

Medical Alert

Medical authorities warned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the current weather patterns.
